Maku on erittäin täyteläinen, tanniininen, tumman kirsikkainen, luumuinen, suklainen, kevyen mokkainen, hennon yrttinen ja lämpimän tamminen. Viini sopii mainiosti punaiselle lihalle, lampaalle sekä täyteläisemmille grilliruoille. Sitä kannattaa kokeilla myös kermaisen pastan tai voimakkaiden juustojen kanssa. Viiniä on kypsytetty 12 kuukauden ajan amerikkalaisissa, bourbon-viskin kypsytykseen aiemmin käytetyissä 200 litran tammitynnyreissä.
