Backers organic malt loaf is a traditional bread from the Finnish archipelago. Traditionally it was baked by wise wives for their men who went fishing for days and needed nutrition rich bread. Archipelago bread has a long preservation time naturally. Later on it became popular in celebrations, for Christmas as well as for Midsummer. Along the Finnish coast recipes have varied and each area has its own style. The Backers malt loaf recipe is made from the traditional recipe of Snappertuna, where the Backers homestead still exists. Backers malt loaf is 100% organic, dairy-free and vegan. Product of the year in Western Uusimaa 2014.
