Lähi-idän- ja Välimerenmaista tuttu kikherneistä valmistettu hummus on proteiinipitoinen lisä kasvisruoille ja maukas kastike esimerkiksi grilliherkuille. Tavallinen hummus on saanut rinnalleen ihanan pirteät ja raikkaat punajuuri- ja hernehummuksen. Hummus on maistuvaa sellaisenaan, mutta halutessaan siihen voi lisätä yrttejä, sitruunamehua tai valkosipulia ja siitä saa helposti herkullisia tahnoja ja dippikastikkeita. Paahteinen, gluteeniton hummus sopii hyvin lisukkeeksi, levitteeksi ja kuorruttamiseen. Kaikki hummuksemme sopivat myös vegaaniseen ruokavalioon.
