Za`atar on mausteseos, jota käytetään paljon Lähi-idässä. Sitä levitetään suoraan leivän päälle tai ripotellaan oliiviöljyn, jogurtin tai hummuksen pinnalle dipattavaksi, jolloin se on erinomainen lisuke tai alkupala jaettavaksi pöydässä. Salliselta Za`atar sopii sen yrttimäisen ja seesaminsiemenen pähkinäisen maun myötä myös kaikenlaisen ruoan maustamiseen.
